I hope you are ready to swap your summer flip flops for an action-packed fall full of Mustang competition and celebration! As most of you already know, across the nation PURPLE is the colour of sports excellence when classes are in session, and we sincerely hope you take the opportunity to CONNECT with the 2024/25 Mustangs student-athlete rosters.

Your Western Mustang Athletic Alumni will help build connections that SUPPORT our Mustangs, past and present. Our volunteer board and key collaborators remain committed to celebrating the shared experience of our 40,000 strong Mustangs athletic alumni and future alumni.

We can’t wait to congratulate, celebrate, and RECOGNIZE our outstanding varsity alumni at the Western Mustangs Sports Hall of Fame Dinner on September 27 . We know you’ll enjoy reading about the many accomplishments and contributions of these individuals and teams in this edition of The Scoop. These incredible Mustangs have made spectacular contributions to the university and the communities in which they live.

We count ourselves fortunate to have mentors and leaders including our 2024 Lifetime Achievement recipients, Angela Schneider, BA'78, MA'82, MA'85, PhD'93 (past WMAA President) and Frank Cosentino, HBA'60, MA'69, PhD'73, who continue to contribute to the field of sports. We welcome national championship football teams from the 1976 and 1977 seasons as well as the 1980 Women’s varsity eight heavyweight rowing championship team. We will also recognize the eight special individual inductees at this momentous ceremony, led by Master of Ceremonies, and Western rowing alum Marnie McBean, BA’97, LLD’03. I encourage you to join us and reconnect with fellow alumni and celebrate these great individuals. Please purchase tickets here.
