Ted Hessel was a proud Mustang alumnus, a former varsity athlete, past president of the W Club, the founding force behind the J.P. Metras Sports Museum and a dedicated member of the Western Mustangs Athletic Alumni (WMAA). A true champion of Western’s athletic legacy, Ted’s passion for Mustangs sports was unmatched—he truly bled purple.
A retired Royal Canadian Air Force pilot, Ted drew on his extensive network to arrange unforgettable moments for Western football fans, including thrilling RCAF fighter jet flyovers and dramatic halftime parachute landings by the Canadian Airborne Regiment at J.W. Little Memorial Stadium.
Ted devoted countless volunteer hours to curating the J.P. Metras Sports Museum, preserving the proud history of Mustangs athletics. Through his tireless dedication, he ensured that the achievements of Western’s athletes and coaches would be remembered and celebrated for generations.
Ted’s unwavering commitment to his alma mater was deeply inspiring. His legacy will continue to shine brightly across campus and in the hearts of all who share his love for Mustangs pride.
