I remember the months of November and December in my first year at Western. Major worries financially and also related to grades and not wanting to disappoint myself or others. In looking back it always seemed that one course per term posed more of a challenge. In the end, I was able to pass first year and thereafter it seemed smoother. After graduation and a period of working, I returned to Western and completed a graduate degree. After 30 years as a professor, I still remember my first year at Delaware Hall and the time of studying and wondering if I would make it. Please continue on and realize this is one junction, one short period in life. Simple kindness, support and inclusion can strengthen spirits in ways you may never see. Believe in yourself and others.
