No matter how overwhelming this school year may be, it's very important to believe in your abilities to overcome difficulties and succeed. Over my four years at Western, there were times when keeping up with readings and assignments seemed impossible. That's when my ability to organize and prioritize was vital. I knew lots of others who had earned better marks than I in high school, but their work habits and determination were lacking, so I was able to succeed when some of them did not. It's also crucial to take time for yourself and spend time with friends/roommates outside of academics. This mindset not only helped me during my time at Western but throughout a thirty year high school teaching career in which I tried to impart this to my History and English students in Simcoe County.
