I remember in my first year, there were times I felt alone especially when I still had final exams and all my friends had already gone home for Christmas. Your experience is now made more difficult with COVID-19. Although your first year might be different than you envisioned, try to live in the moment while also being safe! The friends you make throughout your university career will be the ones you carry with you for years to come. Many friends will come and go but you will find those few select friends that become your family.
