A Spring Migration Getaway: The “Other” Pelee

Trip Details
No supplement for our solo travellers!
Many have been to Point Pelee National Park to enjoy the phenomenon of spring bird migration, but nearby Pelee Island — located some 20 km offshore in Lake Erie — remains mostly undiscovered territory, enjoying a similar migration phenomenon with many fewer human visitors! On this spring getaway, enjoy coursing the island’s rural patchwork of fields, vineyards, and woodlots, visiting its provincial parks and nature reserves that protect Carolinian forest, alvar, and savanna habitats while enjoying an easygoing island discovery experience. We adopt an “anything-is-possible” attitude as we watch for warblers, flycatchers, vireos, tanagers, thrushes, orioles, and more, including some possible rarities! We have re-caps and presentations in the evenings as we anticipate the following day’s events.
Note: Participants will travel in their own vehicle to reach the Island and will use their own vehicle for local touring. We will travel by convoy to reach sites and stay together outdoors while exploring.
