Roland Tuquero, BA’92, BScN’96
graduated with his Doctorate in Nursing from Michigan State University (MSU) in May 2025. Roland is a staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at the VA Ann Arbor Health System and aspires to be part of the anesthesia faculty at MSU.
authored as AD Sui won the 2024 Nebula Award for Best Novella for The Dragonfly Gambit.
Homecoming was always a favourite Ñ the football game, the sea of purple, and the buzz across campus. Now, helping run it as staff feels like a full-circle moment. ItÕs fast-paced, but I still look forward to it every year!

As a staff member, Homecoming has become so special to me. Seeing grads from 50+ years return to campus to relive their memories at the Golden Anniversary Brunch is always a favourite. Their stories remind me why Western and our alumni are so special.

passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023 after a 33-year career as a nurse at the Chatham-Kent and Lambton Public Health Units.
passed away August 3, 2023 in Kingston, ON. She led a distinguished career at the Montreal General Hospital, becoming head nurse of the Postpartum Unit. In 1987 she wed Ron Cunningham and moved to enjoy retirement in the Thousand Islands region.
recently published his professional autobiography and fourth book, My Experiences in Medicine, Theology, and Along the Way. His fascinating experiences began as a pioneer in space clinical medicine and ended as an interim minister and explorer of spiritual healing.
recently became a self-published author.
became the first Toronto police officer to summit Nepal’s Lobuche East Peak – a 6,119m mountain in April 2023. Tom’s Road to 8000M project raises awareness of first responder mental health as he works towards summiting some of the world’s highest peaks.
is a proud first-time homeowner after a nine-year search.

passed away from breast cancer on December 3, 2022. She was a loving, wonderful friend. She leaves behind her husband Scott and two beautiful daughters, Sophie (age 5) and Olivia (age 2). Read more.
