Award of Achievement in Anti-Oppression

Developed and taught by experts in anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion, this free program will examine current instances and impact of systems of oppression in the Canadian context. Learners will reflect on oppression towards Black, Asian, Muslim and Jewish communities.

Learning Objectives

  • The Award of Achievement in Anti-Oppression program allows participants to reflect on systems of oppression toward Black, Asian, Muslim, and Jewish communities.
  • Examine the current instances and impact of systems of oppression in Canada.
  • Reflect on stereotypes toward these communities and the harm these myths cause.
  • Build skills to become an ally to equity-deserving group members and implement strategies and take actions to address oppression to build a more inclusive environment at Western and in our society.
