Extraordinary results

On Oct. 19, Western celebrated the close of Be Extraordinary, the University’s largest ever fundraising campaign, which raised more than $805 million ($55 million over goal), with the most significant portion of funds directed to student programming and awards.

Gift honours Former President

In October, former Western Chancellor Jack Cowin (left), BA’64, LLD’00, and his wife Sharon, BA’64, donated $5 million to support Western Engineering, and to name the Amit Chakma Engineering Building in honour of their friend and the university’s 10th President (right).

Mustangs rock the Junos

On March 17, more than 125 Western Mustang Band members and cheerleaders joined alumni duo Loud Luxury and Sarah McLachlan to open the 2019 Juno Awards, broadcast live from London.

Marvel-lous News for Ivey Grad

Simu Liu, HBA’11, is set to star in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, coming to theatres in 2021. The former accountant’s acting career gained momentum through his successful roles on CBC’s Kim’s Convenience and NBC’s Taken.

Western’s 23rd Chancellor

Linda Hasenfratz, BSc’89, MBA’97, LLD’19, Linamar Corporation CEO, has been named Western’s 23rd Chancellor. She will be officially installed on Oct. 22.
